With the offering of Version 3.0, they now either charge a fairly steep fee ($169), or for the 'free' version you have to show their link on your site. The upgrade (from 2.x to 3.x) is basically forced if you run PHP 5.3 or higher.

You also have to sign up for an "account" with them online to download any of the scripts - with your real name, address, phone number, etc., or they won't let you download. SCRIPT COPS! If it's free, it's free - when they do this I don't deem it to be "free" - you're paying for it by HAVING to GIVE them your personal info. I don't want to give my personal info, so I'll go elsewhere.

Good program, but I don't like to be forced into upgrading or being made to have an "account". I rate them for this a D-.

@arthur the download page have a link for the free version of Open-Realty. It is not unethical and not a shame. This is just the best system available - since years!

why list it as free and then ask for payment in the download page?

Open-Realty is by far the best real estate script there is. You can easily add a MLS IDX/RETS import plug in and have your own huge inventory of listings without paying some cookie-cutter IDX listing service a monthly fee for exactly the same thing your competitor has.

This is truly a fantastic program! I would recommend to anyone considering using it to remember that this is the INFRASTRUCTURE or the skeleton of what goes behind the Front End.

In other words, once setup, you buy the template of your choice, and install it (don't worry, it's simple to do). Once you install the template of your choice, you log into the admin section, and go to the template and select from the drop down menu the template you purchased. The are two default templates that come with the setup (vertical-menu & cms integration). They're just very very basic templates, and I wouldn't recommend using these for your site.

I have realtors telling me all the time, initially they hate the site. But, after they buy a template and it's installed, they become RAVING fans of the open-realty system.

It's a good add-on product for anybody on a budget who wants a superior realtor listing product. I have never had a crash, or problem once setup properly. It runs on the very very stable MySQL.

It is possible to have a rock solid real estate listing and presentation system up and running in about an hour (once you have a good webmaster for the front end customization of the template of your choice from a third party provider, AND a good systems administrator to setup Open-Realty on the server properly with the MySQL database).

The default template of this real estate script looks very lousy thus this ain't a problem because its template based and you can implement your design in minutes. The other function that implressed me is that this scripts offers you to build content pages that can be used to describe your organization or any other purposes.
